To "BOND-ly" go where no man has gone before
"The name is Bond, James Bond." - I am sure every man who has some sense of suspense, mystery, drama and perhaps even humour has tried saying this line in front of the mirror. I say most because my friends claim they have tried it.
Honestly, I lack the confidence of the Bond regime and perhaps cannot stand in front of the mirror to say it to myself. Just not Bond material enough I guess.
So what does it take to become Bond? I thought about this question for quite a while, Bond is perhaps this charismatic man who can speak in dialogue's that give room to double meanings. Perhaps that's what it was, or was it the fact that it is a man who can look good in a tux, and have the confidence of using goofy gadgets. I really don't know what makes Bond, so to say Bond.
Another Bond Another Day - Judging by the fact Bond has spread over the past 4 and a half decades makes one think Bond is an evolutionary character, more perhaps like Madonna (the singer, not the work of art). I believe so since we've seen Bond evolve from Sean Connery to Brosnan, while Madonna has evolved from disco to dance.
Sean Connery played Bond as a serious character, who believed in what he did and was confident of it too, while Brosnan was rather suave, smooth talker with a slightly Yankee style confidence. No offence to the actors, all are perhaps excellent Bond's in someones eyes. Just the personality has evolved for Bond, in spite of the drink still being a Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred.
Now, I stand at the next phase of Bond evolution, Daniel Craig, who brings with him the acting ability and the cocky confidence he portrayed in Layer Cake. I know I know lot of people said Layer what?? and most perhaps read this on www.imdb.com, but for a movie buff this is an excellent movie. When he was cast as Bond I decided to find out what the lovely people at Sony, MGM and EON were thinking and after viewing some of his work in Munich and a lot more of it in Layer Cake, I ended up convinced.
Sony released a whole slew on Bond-i-nized products, cellphones, laptops, camera. I guess Bond is now a Sony fan. I wish Bond could get some more style in his body than endorsing Sony products, but hell when Sony say Bond do, is what has become of it. I guess this time Bond will be using a W800 or W950 and waiting to catch the bus, cause that's what the phone is portrayed to do enjoy what you do. Perhaps Bond will be jolly, listening and humming show tunes, while waiting for the bus or an Aston Martin.
Bond-i-monium
Well Bangalore is currently suffering from Bondimonium, this new kind of disease I have discovered where every individual is talking about the Bond fever. Bond this, Bond that, while the Bond that really would make sense is Bondage. But I guess the simple folks of Bangalore enjoy the simple things in life.
So tomorrow I'm picking up my Sony W800i and dress in my tuxedo and wait for some Aston Martin to pick me up. I hope to catch the movie over the weekend, since Bond is almost everyone's childhood friend, who allows us boys to enjoy the times we thought like boys with action, drama and adventure. Getting the wrong women, with the right attitude after all we are all Boys with Toys, who would love to be super spy's.
Till next time...

hmmm..........
Traveller, I think that Bond is a very superficial character and so, no matter how hard our actors try, they can't seem to make him look real.......
When I use the words 'real' and 'superficial' I mean 'real' as being a plausible human character and 'superficial' meaning to be like a superhero......
yes, that's what I think....Bond is like a superhero, the type comic strip characters are made of...and that is why Bond is so popular among men....coz for them it combines best of both the worlds....superhero action and hot women... men are simple creatures, after all, poor guys.....
